5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Coffee
I have made coffee with drip makers, percolators, pour-overs, French press and the highest end home espresso machines. The best “bang for the buck” (return on time and $) accounting for taste, initial cost, recurring cost (pods), daily cleaning, periodic cleaning, easy of use, time to brew coffee….is the Nespresso Vertuo Plus. I love the quality of the coffee with the crema on top and the variety of coffee recipes that can be created when paired with the milk heater/frother. Amazon has a great price for the Vertuo Plus and Milk Frother bundle. The only down side is perhaps I should have gone for the Vertuo Next model which can use the larger 18 oz pods for when serving guests. I’m very happy with the Nespresso Vertuo Plus and recommend it for great coffee fast and easy at a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Coffee Renaissance in My Kitchen: My Nespresso VertuoPlus Review (with a Tiny Spoiler…)
Alright, coffee connoisseurs and caffeine fiends, gather round! Let’s chat about the Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine by De’Longhi. My inner java junkie was skeptical at first, but let me tell you, this little machine has turned my kitchen into a personal barista paradise (with a tiny caveat at the end, but we’ll get to that).

Brewtiful Brews in Seconds: Forget those agonizingly long waits for a decent cup of joe. The VertuoPlus whips up barista-worthy coffee and espresso in under a minute. From smooth Lungos to intense Espressos, it uses these fancy “centrifusion” and barcode-reading pods to tailor each brew to perfection. No more measuring grounds, adjusting settings, or wondering if you’ll end up with lukewarm disappointment or bitter punishment. This machine practically brews coffee with pixie dust and rainbows.

Variety is the Spice of Coffee Life: Craving a creamy Latte? A bold Double Espresso? Or maybe a fruity Vertuo Next? The VertuoPlus has your back (and your taste buds) with a wide range of pod options. It’s like having a mini coffee shop in your kitchen, catering to every mood and caffeine craving. Plus, the pods are super easy to use – pop them in, press a button, and boom, instant coffee satisfaction.

Sleek and Stylish, Doesn’t Hog Bench Space: The VertuoPlus isn’t just a coffee machine, it’s a sleek kitchen accessory. It looks modern and chic, with a compact design that doesn’t eat up precious counter space. Plus, the brushed stainless steel finish adds a touch of sophistication to any coffee corner.

One-Touch Ease for Lazy Mornings (and Evenings): Let’s be honest, sometimes mornings (and evenings) are rough. That’s where the VertuoPlus’s one-touch operation shines. Just pick your pod, press a button, and wait for your caffeine miracle. No need to fiddle with settings or decipher a cryptic instruction manual. This machine is practically coffee therapy incarnate.

Okay, Now for the Tiny Spoiler: The pods, while amazing, can be a tad pricey. It’s not your “grab a bag of beans” kind of setup. But here’s the thing: the convenience, speed, and consistency are pretty darn addictive. And let’s not forget the sheer variety of coffee adventures you can embark on. So, while it might not be the budget-friendliest option, it’s definitely worth its weight in delicious, hassle-free coffee gold.

Final Verdict? A Standing Ovation (with a Milk Frother Chaser):

Despite the slightly steeper pod price tag (which, honestly, feels like a minor quibble compared to the awesomeness), the Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine by De’Longhi is a game-changer. It’s fast, convenient, delivers consistently delicious coffee, and looks good doing it. If you’re a coffee lover who values quality, variety, and ease, this machine is a must-have. Just maybe budget for a nice milk frother to complete your home barista bliss. Trust me, your future lattes will thank you.

So, go forth, conquer your coffee cravings, and join the VertuoPlus fam! You won’t regret it (unless you accidentally drink all the pods in one sitting, then you might have a caffeine-induced meltdown. But that’s a story for another day).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! (Except for the descaling!)
I’ve been searching for the ‘perfect’ coffee-maker for some time now, and I have to say, this Nespresso VertuoPlus comes pretty close.

We’ve been using a Keurig for many years now, and while it’s certainly convenient and easy-to-use, lately the quality of the coffee has not been good. I can’t seem to find any Keurig pods that make decent coffee any more, and even though my Keurig is only about a year old, I was sick of crappy tasting coffee in the mornings.

So I bit the bullet and tried the Nespresso VertuoPlus, and it’s SO much better than the Keurig–as others mentioned, it’s like getting good coffee from a coffee shop. I can make an Americano that tastes virtually identical to what I get at Starbucks or similar shops, and the machine is very easy to use. Even my husband, who is extremely picky about his coffee, was very impressed by the taste, although he thought just the 7.7 oz. pods alone were a bit on the weak side, so has been using a shot of espresso in them which did the trick.

The Pros: Relatively low price for the machine; very easy to set up and use; and great tasting coffee.

The Cons: Pods are expensive and not widely available in stores; you can find a couple varieties of Starbucks vertuo pods in local stores, but that’s about it. They’re mostly available on-line via Nespresso or Amazon, and we’re talking an average of about $1 a pod. It’s also a bit noisy, which doesn’t bother me, but may annoy some people.

All in all, I’m very happy with this coffee maker, however I’ve only had it a couple weeks, so I can’t attest to its durability. I’ll amend my review if I have any problems with it.

UPDATE: I’ve been using this about 6 months now and it’s still working well, with decent coffee quality. However, I have to say the descaling process is nuts. The procedure listed in the manual does not work. Had to go to Nespresso website for accurate instructions. Even with the correct procedure, its a ridiculously cumbersome process. Glad I’ll only have to do it once or twice a year!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, completely different experience from other “pod coffeemakers”
“Is this a good coffee maker?” Well, that’s going to depend upon your expectations in coffee.

If you’re looking for a “pod coffee maker” that makes normal drip coffee (think Keurig) then Nespresso is somewhat different, and may or may not meet your expectations.

I also have a Keurig. It’s just fine for brewing basic, cheap coffee (or more expensive if you buy major-brand-name capsules). I like my Keurig–we’ve had it for over 5 years, and it works great. But, those who are environmentally conscious will soon realize that Keurig is not recyclable at all, and countless billions of pods a year are making their way into landfills.

Nespresso’s pods are made of 100% recycled/recyclable aluminum. Nespresso is VERY focused on a goal of 100% recycle-ability, and provides recycling bags with fully pre-paid shipping. Fill the bag (holds about 75-100 capsules), seal it, and drop it off at your nearest UPS store (or Nespresso store/kiosk if you happen to have one in a mall nearby). Nespresso will dismantle the pods, collect all the used grounds and process it into compost for landscaping use, and then melt down the pods and recycle them. 100% recycled!

All those recycling costs are already built in to the pod cost, so while these pods are more expensive than Keurig, there is ZERO waste as long as the consumer does their job.

The best way I can describe Nespresso is it’s a totally new coffee “experience.” Espresso or “foo foo coffee” lovers will likely be very pleased with this machine line. Folks who aren’t impressed with anything beyond a drip cup may find Nespresso a little “snooty” for them.

Nespresso’s Vertuo product produces coffee that is much more similar to a cup of espresso. The pods are spun at variable RPM’s (typically 3000 – 7000RPM) and use “centrifusion” – a made up word intended to commingle “centrifugal force” and “infusion”. Basically, they spin the pod, a pump squirts in water, and the spinning forces produce the coffee which is extracted and drips into the cup. It’s not particularly noisy for a kitchen appliance, but you can definitely hear the spinning. Regardless of pod, they all come out with a layer of crema (coffee foam). There are (at the moment) five “sizes” of pods, which produce 1.5oz (espresso) up through 14 oz (“Alto XL”).

As with any product line, there are pros and cons. There are some fantastic things about Vertuo and a few limitations.

Pros: Absolutely fantastic coffee. All cups have a crema layer on them, and there are a relatively plentiful number of flavors and intensities available, ranging from lighter and fruitier/acidic flavors all the way up to very dark bold and smoky options. There are seasonal special pods as well, such as holiday blends or single-origin “master” type coffees. Pods and contents are 100% recyclable. Easy to use out of the box–there’s ONE button. You press it. It works. Milk frother (optional add-on, included in our purchase) is FANTASTIC. I thought it was going to be a gimmick, but I use it with every cup! It’s easy to use, and creates that “latte experience”–it makes better lattes’ than a certain really large chain whose name ends with “bucks”–yeah, you’ll spend ’em there. Pod cost, compared to an espresso shop brewing an equivalent latte for you, is cheap. VERY tightly-integrated recycling: drop pods in bag. Bag full? Seal it and drop it off at your UPS store. Pre-paid return shipping means zero-extra cost. Done. Milk frother is VERY easy to clean–takes about 15 seconds, if that. I’ve only owned the machine for a month, but the build and overall experience lends itself to belief this is a very high-quality unit. Excellent app (iOS/Android)—you can view/order/manage pods, accessories, maintenance/cleaning products and subscriptions right from your phone/tablet. Love a particular flavor? Just add it to your cart. It even supports automatic/routine replenishment if you want that. Seasonal and other specials show up in the app when available, making the app a one-stop-shop. Company is VERY plugged in environmentally and has created a coffee experience that doesn’t fill a landfill. If you actually play the game the way Nespresso intends, it’s a holistic coffee experience and a great one at that.

Cons: No third-party pods, and pods are relatively expensive when compared to other “pod” brewing standards. You want this machine? You’ll be buying Nespresso-branded pods from Nespresso, or authorized resellers, and at full-tilt retail which typically runs about $0.90 for an Espresso pod and up to $1.20 for their normal coffees (some origins are as high as $2.00 a pod). So each cup is roughly double the cost of a Keurig brew. There are about 20 different pod flavors and five sizes available, so most people will find SOMETHING they like, but if you don’t love one of the 20, you’re out of luck as there are no 3rd-party options without “hacking together” a used pod, some self-ground coffee, and some foil cap stickers you found on the Internet.

Overall, this is an EXCELLENT machine for those who want more than a pod of coffee. I’ve owned it for a month and I’m 100% hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my nespresso!
As an avid coffee lover (addict) and former barista, I am picky about my coffee. Here’s my review on this espresso machine!
    Loves:
    – the ease of set up and use: this was easy to put together (I tend to struggle in this department) and brewing a cup of coffee requires a single press of a button.
    – easy access to the water tank: this machine allows you to shift the water tank so you can alternate which side it’s on (nice for tight spaces) and the size of the tank is great. A full tank allows for a few days worth of coffee while being easy to carry from sink to machine.
    – coffee and espresso quality is top notch: I appreciated the variety of coffees and espressos in the starter pack so I could figure out what worked best for me on a daily basis before ordering more. I also find Nespresso coffee to be leaps and bounds better than a standard k cup or brewed coffee.
    – the milk frother is a pleasure for former baristas and coffee-virgins alike. I love that I can make high quality lattes at home (latte art included), or warm up milk for a quick hot chocolate for my little one. The frother has a hot and cold function, so this is lovely for iced drinks, too.
    Considerations:
    – Nespresso pods are pricier than k-cups (although less expensive than fancy coffees), so you’ll want to keep that in mind when purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee drinks at the touch of a button!
This really delivers great coffee! I like cappucino and the aeroccino is amazing! Good foam and the temperature of the milk and coffee I feel, is just right. The vertuo capsules are not the cheapest but they really have a full bodied flavor, which is what I like. I also like they recycle the capsules. For convenience, ease and great coffee drinks, I highly recommend this unit!

5.0 out of 5 stars My personal coffee assistant
Machine makes good coffee with many varieties and flavors from which to choose. Although the pods are pricey, it beats waiting in line at Starbucks, etc. Simple to use, easy to clean, and pods are recyclable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive pods, sometimes takes a minute to recognize a pod but tastes great
The media could not be loaded. Expensive pods, sometimes takes a minute to recognize a pod but tastes great. I dislike that it takes awhile to recognize an official pod from Nespresso but that said, the taste of the coffee is far superior to the taste of k cups. I have a few recipes I use to make different drinks with this as well.
A full 7.77 oz mixed with a little sugar and ice , blended in a smoothie blender makes a wonderful easy to go iced drink. Add some frothed or unfrothed coffee mate vanilla instead of sugar for an iced drink you won’t soon forget. I have flavors that you can buy that are meant for making flavored jellos – on amazon it’s a pack of maybe 36 flavors or something, all different extracts. Tiny bottles. Add a drop or two to any of these coffees iced or blended w ice for a blueberry or any other fruit flavored iced coffee at home made prices. Maybe a little expensive.
Also be careful because nespresso sends you a welcome kit if you purchase $100 or ten sleeves from them. Original line doesn’t work in these only Vertuo line. Make sure your welcome kit is also Vertuo or you will get pods that don’t work with that kit. However if you call and are polite but firm they will send you the other welcome kit. It’s a little frustrating bc they inundate you with several coupon codes but only allow one to be used so it’s the kit or other things like $$ off your order or maybe another type of free item. And nothing gets auto added even if it looks like it. Nespresso promised a travel
Mug w every order over $100 but it was my first order so I used the code for welcome kit (and may have lost use of my first order
Code that came in the box). I called and asked but they did not honor it however did send the other welcome
Kit and didn’t want me to send the other back. One is glass espresso cups w saucers and the other is glass
Coffee mugs so stuff I don’t need but nice quality and worth getting bc they look good.
Lastly, you can’t buy aftermarket pods bc these pods have a bar code underneath them, however there are methods in which one can empty and refill the pods. Grasseed sells a set up with a little
Silicone stand that I will review. It becomes a chore however to remove the foil tops, empty out pods, clean and dry them, refill them and properly place tops on them. But doing so saves significantly over buying from
Nespresso or buying Nespresso pods on amazon. For sometimes as low As $15 one can get a large bag of Starbucks coffee and grind it at home in small batches to refill pods. I recommend that if you do this, you do it in batches, trading off a little time for a bunch of pods to be ready for the following week or two. It gets old doing this and many of us usually wind up wanting to just find sales and discount codes for Nespresso online where they often have a deal on something or other to keep you up to your neck in pods.

Quality is as good as my old espresso machine that. Made wonderful espresso. And the ease of use makes it easier and faster than making a traditional espresso. Choices of single or double espresso or the 7.77oz full sized coffee that is just a tad bit weaker than espresso but has the same consistency and crema on top. My only complaint is that it is not immediately discernible when purchasing that the machine only accepts Nespresso Vertuo pods and not the original line. An adapter would be great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nespresso Machine
I bought this as a birthday gift for my mom last December and she absolutely loves it. She was previously using the Keurig, but after switching to this machine, she couldn’t imagine going back. She uses it every day religiously, and steams milk to add on top of coffee. Easy to use with a large range of coffee options to choose from.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, Functional, and Excellent Coffee/Espresso
Just recently bought this particular model. So far so good. Some friends had an older model and I really enjoyed the coffee from it. So I waited a bit and looked at various models and prices and decided to get this one, primarily because it was less expensive. Some reviews here say they’ve had some technical problems, but I haven’t yet. It works great so far and the coffee/espresso is as good as anything I’ve had from a coffee shop.

Problem is going to be buying too many of these pods!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love of my life
I have had this machine for almost a year now. I used to have a keurig but the coffee was never strong enough for me and sometimes tasted off. I need a strong cup to function. So I did my research and decided to purchase a nespresso. It was love at first cup, really. I’m so spoiled by it now! I love it so much I’m thinking about buying the smaller version too so I can bring it with us on our vacation. LOL If you are a strong coffee lover you need this machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars How’s this machine in 2024? Takes a minute to get used to but killer results
Had a weekend to try this out when I was housesitting for a friend; I couldn’t believe the results. I’m normally someone who’s into a more quality drink like a french press or similar, or maybe the occasional hot latte from Starbucks- I’ll do drip coffee in a pinch but the quality this machine produces is aces, comparable to going out to the coffee shop. Yes, it’s world’s better than a Keurig. I personally decided on the matte black version.

My go-to drink with this guy is mainly a double espresso pod with some frothed oat milk. Some here have mentioned the 7.7oz coffee pods taste kinda meh (just black, straight up); I think they’re decent enough but again I got this with the extra Aeroccino 3 to make those extra creamy drinks. The crema results from the pods are super awesome too, one of the main reasons to get this unit in my opinion. Otherwise if you want straight black coffee I’d stick with drip/pourover/french press if you’re mega picky and want to save some money (after all the package I bought was the unit + Aeroccino 3 for ~$200 including tax).

I don’t have much negative to say other than it took a minute to get the machine to perform an initial “clean” where it basically pumps hot water out a few times. Easy “get started” guide has simple instructions: plug the unit in, turn it on, fill up the water tower, and press the top button three times- I tried this step maybe 3-4 times and it didn’t work until the 5th time, not sure why. Additionally, I also wished the AC plugs for the unit + frother were right-angled: they are heavy duty but they stick out a lot coming straight out of the wall. Like many others I don’t have a lot of counter space in terms of depth. Otherwise we’ll see how easy it is to descale this thing as I’ve heard a small % of folks had some issues.

All in all I’m happy as I’m probably looking at under ~$1.80 a drink for my morning cups, which beats $5.00+ at Starbucks every morning. That and it probably takes 4-5 min to brew and cleanup. There’s a reason this VertuoPlus has high praise, and I myself am a fan.

We switched from the kurig to the Nespresso and will never look back!
We love the flavor options! Even the basic coffee is like going to a boutique coffee shop!
One of the nice features is the column in the back that holds the used pods-
It’s easy to refill the water chamber and we look forward to our coffee each morning!

5.0 out of 5 stars These People are Serious about Good Coffee!
For many years, I enjoyed my every morning cup brewed by Starbuck’s Verismo with my favorite Starbuck’s coffee pod. I was content. Then the thing wore out. The machine itself was discontinued, and the coffee pods were no longer produced. I was a sad sack. I tried Keurig and other coffee brewing methods, and while they all produced coffee, none had the same bright zing as my beloved Verissmo. And so, I discontentedly slugged down my French pressed cuppa every morning for the years since.
I’ve seen the clever Nespresso ads with Clooney and DeVito. I never thought they were speaking to me, but those ads did lodge somewhere in the back of my mind. Then I came across Nespresso on sale. I had to think about it for awhile because I had to research if this model was right for me. I settled on it, finally, and that was the moment I made one of my few right and good decisions.
It’s like the Vertuo Plus is a doorway to a new dimension. A whole new world has since opened up to me. I am happy to get out of bed in the morning because I know what is waiting for me. The machine is very well made. Nothing flimsy or cheap about it. It is engineered so all the parts fit exactly right. The hydraulic action on the open and close of the pod compartment is endlessly fascinating. It makes me feel futuristic and high brow like I am the owner of a gull-winged car that costs a bajillion dollars.
It’s the coffee that really is the star, though. There was a sample pack of Nespresso pods included and every one of them are my new favorite. It’s difficult to describe the difference from other coffees, but this is like the stuff you get at a great coffee shop. But better. Right in my kitchen. Every day. It makes my place smell wonderful and it’s all now part of my morning ritual. Before going to bed, I make sure there’s water in the reservoir, I select my coffee pod from the endless variety they offer, put my cup in place and in the morning, there is only one button to press to open the doorway to the land of the living.
If you are still hesitating, I tell you to not bother. You want this.
