5.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee, Keeps it Reasonably Hot
Update: After three weeks of use, here’s what I can tell you. This press has totally replaced my classic Bodum French press, which has been relegated to basement storage. My initial impression that it was harder to clean than the Bodum one was wrong. Actually, it’s easier to clean and I never have to worry about breaking it. My annoyance that it didn’t keep the coffee as hot as other reviewers promised (whoever said it keeps coffee hot four hours is lying) has totally faded because the coffee is delicious. While it does not keep the coffee hot like a thermos would, it does keep it nice and fresh and hot if you want to make a press and have it on the table throughout a leisurely breakfast while reading the newspaper or whatever. So, overall, I do stand by my bottom line. Great coffee, might not be worth the extra for the double-wall vacuum-sealed, but I can’t see going back to my old press again.
Original review below:
I bought this after reading a NYTimes Wirecutter review of French Presses. I’ve used a classic Bodum press for two decades, but after reading about the potential cholesterol raising effects of unfiltered coffee, was looking for an alternative. I use a Clever for single-cup filtered coffee, but most days I want to brew more than one cup at a time. Enter the Espro. And as long as I was upgrading, why not go all in with the double-wall vacuum insulated model? This could be my leisurely weekend coffee maker.
Well, the coffee is great, but the added expense of the double-wall, vacuum insulation is not at all worth it. Kept the coffee moderately hot for one hour. After two hours, it was unpleasantly cold. I thought this would spare me the need to decant into a thermos, thereby saving me some clean up. But since there are so more parts to the filtration system than a typical press, it’s more of a pain to clean up, and doesn’t keep the coffee very hot.
Bottom line: Great filtration, but the glass or non vacuum sealer metal versions would suffice. The top of the line version doesn’t deliver on keeping coffee hot long enough to justify the high price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU NEED TO BUY THIS!!!
This is one of the best products I have ever boughten off of Amazon!! It makes the best coffee, it almost taste like Starbucks! The design is brilliant and sooo simple to use! It comes with very straight forward directions! It’s sturdy and will seem to last quite a while. The price is also so affordable! I highly recommend this for all coffee lovers!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The double filters on this mean you don’t need as good a grinder
I bought this along with a super high-quality grinder, and discovered that I kinda only needed one or the other.
The mesh filters are fine enough on this that you can get away with a relatively crappy grinder. You can even use regular pre-ground coffee, and it’ll come out okay. With a normal glass/single layer mesh press, using regular grounds will result in actual sludge in the bottom of your cup. With this unit, the Costco bulk ground coffee will leave some fines in your cup, but will work fine otherwise; the second layer of screening is good enough to keep the sludge at bay.
If, on the other hand, you have a high quality, consistent grinder, you can buy a less expensive press and do fine. That said, pairing this with a good grinder makes absolutely *splendid* coffee. You don’t necessarily need both, but I doubt you’ll regret the purchase. The double filters can also help you calibrate your grinder; if the inner filter is getting many grounds on it, you probably want a slightly coarser grind.
This unit is tall and skinny, and does better with a tall sink for cleaning. If you’re trying to rinse it out upstairs in a standard bathroom sink, you should be able to do it, but it’ll take a little maneuvering. The actual cleaning process is very easy, although you do have to clean two little baskets instead of one. It takes a wee bit longer than cleaning a standard press.
The build quality seems good.
Oh, one other note: because of the filter design, you end up with some coffee left in the bottom that you can’t drink. You’re using a more water than normal, so it takes more grounds than you’re probably expecting. Further, French presses need more grounds for the same amount of coffee, because they’re ground coarse and use a shorter brewing time. (normally 4 minutes.) I use six tablespoons of coffee per batch, and I get two 16-ounce cups out of it. With my older drip brewer, it took only four tablespoons.
In exchange, the quality is *vastly* better, you can use almost any grounds, and after you’ve plunged it, the coffee stays excellent for at least an hour. Seems well worth it to me, but if your coffee budget is small, the higher consumption might be something to consider.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect coffee, and stays warm
The look of this French press is great! I wanted something sleek that fit with my new kettle, creating just a little morning vibe. So first impressions were solid – a nice feel in the texture and color, clean and simple design, and a nice match to other appliances and kitchen decor. Moving from those first visuals, the interior makes making coffee or tea super easy, with minimum water and demarcations for max coffee or max tea. I frankly thought the filter part was a bit of a gimmick, but after brewing my first coffee I was really surprised at how little, remarkably little, grounds were at the bottom of my cup, and how perfectly rounded the coffee taste. Usually I also feel a bit of subtext pressure to drink coffee quickly when using a French press, since it can go cold fairly quickly – that is where this design especially shined! I could pour out an amount I wanted and just let the rest sit until I was ready for more. The last cup was as smooth as the first – and was still hot to enjoy!
In a hurry up world it’s nice sometimes to take a moment and just enjoy…

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Press
The double filter in this French press works very well. I’ve always enjoyed coffee made with a French press, but the dregs at the bottom consistently makes the last cup mud-luscious. Not so with this French press. The last cup is as good as the first, the thermal carafe keeps the coffee warm longer than glass presses, and it is a large capacity item. First rate coffee press. The cost is steep, but when you consider the number of cups you’ll make and drink over time, it is well worth it. Excellent press.

3.0 out of 5 stars It’s nice but there some downsides.
I’ve used this for about a month now. I like the outer steel container. It’s heavy duty and looks nice. The coffee tastes good, and it does stay warm for longer than my old glass French press.
The downsides are that both filters are plastic, and the rim appears to be silicone. It’s extra work cleaning both filters and my worry is that the silicone rim will show signs of wear eventually and need to be replaced. So far it is holding up fine, but the Bodum French press filters were all stainless still and would never really need to be replaced (no plastic). The Bodum French press filter was also simpler to clean quickly compared to this multi layer filter that must be taken apart each time.
The other little downside for me the large size. The 32oz is really big… it can actually hold about twice as much coffee as my old Bodum. If my partner also drank coffee in the morning this press would be perfect. But just for me, it’s way too big and it’s hard to see the measuring lines on the inside of the container. Finally, when I pour out the coffee, there is always quite a lot of coffee still in the container trapped with all the grounds which is a waste. You can get most of the coffee out by pulling up the plunger, picking up the container and pushing the plunger down again as you pour. But it’s kind of annoying.
I wanted to treat myself to a really nice FP. Overall, this is a nice press, but I’m not in love with it. I did love my glass Bodum but my Bodum would break up with me every year or so. My search for the perfect FP continues on.

4.0 out of 5 stars White Espro7 18oz: a great upgrade with some trade offs
The media could not be loaded. TLDR: hotter longer, much less grit, harder to clean, high minimum brew requirements, poor powder coat finish, great customer service.
I bought this as an upgrade to my body glass French press. Overall it is a much better press. It’s hotter longer and the dual filters do a fantastic job. Before, at the end of my coffee, it was almost unbearable. It was like gritty sludge. It was like drinking dirt. Now with the espro 7, it’s much less, and what does get through is so fine, that I can drink the last drop.
It’s hotter longer, but it’s not vacuum insulated. It stays hot for 1 hour, warm after another 30 minutes. After that its Luke warm.
It’s harder to clean but not by much. With glass, I can just rinse and dump it out, set it to dry and it’s good to go.
By comparison, the espro filters clean very easily. In fact, the long term maintenance is probably easier. But the stainless steel press doesn’t rinse as easily. It might still have some residue and require a brush on daily use.
My biggest gripe about this is the high minimum requirements. I usually just brew enough to make one cup, but this requires 2 tablespoons of grounds and enough for 1 and a half cups of coffee. The way the filter is, it seems like more water gets trapped in the bottom, and that’s why it needs more water. It’s not a big deal, but I grind my beans each use, so it doubles my grinding time and consumes my beans faster.
These are bigger and heavier than a glass press.
My powder coat was chipped under the handle and even had some rust built up on it. I contacted the company directly and they’re sending me a new one free of charge. And I get to keep the old one! (which still works just fine) Also the lid is painted white, but it’s plastic and not a sturdy powder coat. It scuffs easily after just a couple days of use. I believe the stainless steel (no powder coat) option has a stainless steel lid.
The video attached shows what very little grit does make it into the cup.
The picture shows the grit stuck between the two filters. The second picture shows the chipped paint.

5.0 out of 5 stars READ IF WORRIED ABOUT LEAD!!! (And Design Differences)
Hello coffee lovers, if you’re looking to buy this expensive French press, then you probably already did your research and know why it’s up there, so I won’t get into that.
If you’re concerned about lead, I’m here to address that. Another reviewer some while back said they found lead on the exposed circle part on their Espro under the sticker. I used my $80 spray and light to test that circle part and found that it was NOT positive for lead. Mind you, I’ve used this kit to test known objects with lead like my Japanese and Turkish teacups, as well as Been There Starbucks mugs (particularly the ones with red/orange and blue paints) and those all tested positive with neon green glowing results. In short, if you receive this “Designed in USA, Made in China” version, you’re okay on NOT having lead.
That said, I ordered again to check and happened to get the “Designed in Vancouver, Made in China” version which did NOT have the exposed black dot on the bottom of the Espro where the sticker was—just a flat metal bottom (see pics). It seems that when Espro, originally Vancouver based, was sold to a Wisconsin company, they cheapened out on that part. I’ve laid out the design differences below:
Designed in Vancouver version
– Solid metal bottom (no exposed black dot)
– Coffee press top section is NOT unscrew-able, just the bottom where the mesh is.
– Espro logo and “E” letter design on press top
Designed in USA version (newer model)
– Exposed black dot on bottom
– Coffee press top unscrews, making for easier cleanup
– Simple Espro logo (“E” logo removed) on press top
To sum up, both versions are good on NOT having lead as far as I’m concerned and are very similar, but note the small design differences. The boxes look similar but will say where they were designed, so you’ll know which version you got when you receive it. Hope this helps and have a happy caffeinated day, everyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes great french press coffee as advertised
Aside from making great coffee, it really looks chic with its polished silver look. It’s not as light as my previous glass french press but I did break that one. It’s also not as easy to clean as the glass french press because of the dual filter, with one attached to the rod. But those are small matters compared to how beautiful it looks and how solid the stainless steel material is. I just love looking at it. Hope it does last forever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don’t get the white one (nor black)
I originally bought the white one (from Williams and Sonoma). It immediately got marks from touching ANYTHING. Like if you clean it in your sink and it touches the side of the sink, mark! If you see it in your drying area and it brushes any pots, pans, flatware, etc, mark! THESE MARKS ARE NOT WASHABLE and after a year, well, see the photo. I have common white plates, bowls, coffee cups, serving bowls, mixing bowls, etc, that I’ve used for years. None of them have a single mark. Whatever this white coating on this coffee press is though, it wasn’t designed for actual use in a kitchen.
I like the press itself though, even though it’s expensive. I tried to replace this one with another from amazon and in the end I just bought another of this same model except this time I got a non-painted one. That says that, as far as operation goes, I like this coffee press. Just avoid the painted ones!
IMO they should take the painted ones off the market until they figure out a better paint that doesn’t have this issue.

2.0 out of 5 stars Expected Better For The Price
While I like the basket design for being easier to clean than old French press options, it has a lot of flaws.
First and foremost – for the cost of this I expected it to be 100% stainless steel. Instead the inner part of the lid and the majority of the basket are plastic. Considering how much you’re charging it’s baffling that y’all cheaped out on the construction like this. As a result the coffee doesn’t stay warm nearly as long as it would in other French press options, or even as long as it does in my cheap travel mug. There’s also the fact that most people are trying to reduce how much plastic they’re exposing their foods to, and steeping my coffee in plastic is the opposite of ideal. We have enough microplastics in our water and food already – I don’t need it from my expensive French press too.
The basket design also makes it difficult to plunge the coffee down as the bottom of it is solid plastic and not mesh. I have nerve damage in my neck and as a result I have intermittent muscle weakness in my arms. A regular French press is no issue even on a bad day, but pressing this thing is a workout I didn’t sign up for on a normal day. Plus – if you accidentally press too hard the rubber gasket allows the water and coffee grounds to press through around the edges of the baskets. So you need to press just hard enough but not too hard or else you’ll ruin your coffee, and you won’t know what that point of too hard is until you hear it gurgling past the gasket.
I really wanted to like this product because the double basket design is so much nicer to clean but it’s just not very well executed and in the end it’s a waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Coffee Worth it for sure!!!!
I hardly ever write reviews but wanted to help anyone who is debating whether to buy this or not so here it goes:
After breaking our second Chemex we were on vacation and the Vrbo we were staying at had a stainless steel French press (it was old and we couldn’t figure out the brand). My wife commented on how great it was and it made really good coffee (she grew up in the coffee region of Colombia and knows about coffee!). So when we got home my search began to surprise her with a stainless steel French press. I will say after reading some of the reviews I was a bit skeptical and almost went with another brand. After reading everything ai could find I decided to go with the Espro in 32. She loved the aesthetics and we knew it was built to last. After reading the instructions on the site and some of the reviewers, I began to make some excellent cups of coffee! If you are hesitating don’t, it doesn’t disappoint!
So this is long but wanted to address issues posted on here:
yes you will get some coffee at the bottom but just pump and you will get every last drop (if you need it lol)
It does keep coffee warm for a “reasonable amount of time not all morning!) Thriw it in the microwave if it’s been hours smh)
We ended up getting the smaller one for during the week when on the run….Large makes 3-4 cups Small 2-3 so depending on the day (Large on the weekends) oh and we found no difference based on size.
I would purchase this and it may seem a bit expensive but other than having to replace the filter this thing is indestructible and you will get your money’s worth over time. I hope this was helpful….I could go into what worked for us but this is long already I would definitely invest in a burr grinder and scale if you don’t have one and prepare to have amazing coffee everyday!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
Bought this to replace a glass French press I had broke after about 10 years of use. This is by far superior to any French press I’ve owned or tried. The filtering is amazing, leaves no grounds whatsoever. In fact, there’s always a little liquid left due to grounds mixed in. Also, being insulted stainless the coffee stays hot longer. Easy to clean. Definitely worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, Bought a Second One
This is a really terrific French-press. You will never have to replace the screens because they have two screen baskets which allow for literally no coffee grinds to get into your cup. The only issue is you will have to make more than you might want to drink and not all of it will get out of the pot. If you’re ok with throwing away some coffee, you will be fine with this

3.0 out of 5 stars doesn’t keep coffee hot but filter works great
I was tired of replacing the screw on filter type french press so got this. The insulated french press is much better at getting the perfect first cup and keeping the rest warm. This french press just can’t keep the coffee hot enough for the first cup. The filter system is really excellent however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much what I had hoped for
So the ESPRO P7 is pretty much what I had hoped it would be. I do love making French press, but it’s always a pain in a few ways. First is that, eventually, I end up breaking the glass on a traditional press. This is not a problem for the ESPRO as that thing is built like a tank. I mean, it’s not gonna break. Second problem I always have is that every single cup I pour out of a traditional press always leaves a bit of coffee sludge at the bottom of my cup…my previous presses could never filter it out…it drove me nuts. Again, not a problem for ESPRO. The micro filter thingy does a tremendous job of making sure my coffee is sludge-free (I do get a very tiny amount on the very last cup…but I am wondering if that is the result of switching my grinder settings back from the espresso setting (“18” on my Breville) to French press grind setting (“58”)…i.e., if there is not a tiny amount of coffee powder left over in my French press grind. The ESPRO is really simple to clean…it’s easy to whomp the bottom of the press to get the grounds to pop out, then simply rinse everything out. So, overall, I’m super happy with the ESPRO…I wish I had heard of it sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, buy this and don’t look back
Great tasting coffee, very little sediment, lovely stainless steel construction, it’s worth the extra time in the morning. I was afraid the filters would become damaged during manual hand cleaning but after over a month of every day use, no problems. Min and max lines are accurate, too high it slightly overflows around seal when inserting the plunger, too low and at full insertion the filter won’t hit the top of the grounds, leaving unfiltered coffee left in the bottom. Recommend to wash filters in dishwasher once every two weeks or so because the seal around the outer filter gets discolored with constant use and manual cleaning doesn’t do the job like the dishwasher does. And be careful during travel and don’t wash with steel wool or anything abrasive, it scratches easily, or at least the polished steel I bought does. But it’s worth the extra care, I love this press. Kind of nuanced, but I put in about 85-90 grams of coffee and fill to the max line every day (for two lol) and since this is a lot of grounds, the plunger won’t insert all the way because the filters hit the top of the grounds before full travel. This is mildly annoying, but reducing the max travel of the plunger for the strong coffee drinkers would force the min volume to increase, which isn’t desirable, so it’s ok. Very well thought out by Espro, great press.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad I bought this
I researched a lot of french presses before replacing the one I had. Glad to say I made the right choice. This is large enough to make a big mug of coffee or two regular sized cups. It’s insulated so my coffee stays warm I don’t drink it all in one shot. The pot is well made and easy to clean. Last, but not least, the double filter means I don’t have coffee grounds floating in my mug. I bit pricier than I planned, but I won’t be replacing this one anytime soon. Worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes great coffee if you DON’T follow the instructions!
When I first got this French Press, I was disappointed. The coffee, frankly, tasted MUCH worse than my old cheap press. It was bitter and full of nasty flavors. I’ve seen a few other reviews here experience the same issue. At such a high price point, I was astounded… But I decided to stick it out and try a few things.
Of course, you see this is a 5-star review, so here’s the deal: this thing can make AMAZING coffee, but you have to ditch some French Press “best practices” to get there. Or at least, I did. Here’s what I did:
– Grind as course as you can get it.
– If you are using very fresh coffee, let it “bloom” twice as long as you would normally.
– I do a full minute, and wouldn’t do less!
– I use a 2:1 ratio of water to coffee for the bloom. (So if I am using 35g of coffee, I add 70g of water, and let sit for 1 minute).
– Stir after the bloom!
– This helps release gasses that make coffee bitter.
– I believe this is related to the double-filter system. I theorize it traps more gasses than usual… In either case, this has been essential.
– Brew for WAY less than normal. Four minutes? Fuggetaboutit. 2.5 minutes TOPS.
– I usually do two minutes from the time I have finished pouring in water (which I pour at 200 degrees F).
– During the press, be sure to back off if you hear gurgling. Try to go more slowly to keep from releasing too many gasses.
When I follow these steps, absolutely excellent coffee is the result. I’m not positive why this is so radically different from traditional French Press strategy, but if you’re experiencing bitter coffee from your press, I highly recommend giving these steps a try! And once you follow them, this press is well worth the money!
Good luck, and great cups!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality but blue doesn’t look blue
Really nice quality French press. Only complaint, which is a caution for buyers who prefer the color blu: this blue practically never actually looks blue – instead it appears black. I wish designers would stop adopting this shade of blue without offering an alternative that actually looks blue most of if not all of the time, especially since the photos on line suggest that it’ll look blue most of the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee
Plus side: The Espro makes great tasting coffee if you start with good beans. If preheated, it will hold a good drink temperature for an hour or more and decanting is not needed. Downside: Even with the fine mesh screen there is still a bit of fines in the brew. It is also hard to pour out the last cup as the grounds can block the basket. Putting a paper filter over the basket would probably solve these minor issues. Overall I’m glad I purchased this unit.

For health reasons I needed to start drinking decaffeinated coffee, while my husband has no problem with caffeine, so I looked for a good coffee press so I could make my own decaffeinated coffee. As always when researching new products for my home I looked at many online reviews as well as Amazon reviews. This one had all the features I wanted. I hate sludge in the bottom of my cup, so a coffee grinder that could do a coarse grind was essential, but this double filter really helps a lot. My morning cup is delicious from start to finish. I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tips To Get The Most Liquid Out And Maintain Hot Liquid
I’ve been using the Espro P7 for many months now, and have found it to be a fantastic French Press. There are some complaints in various reviews here describing too much liquid left after pushing down the plunger and pouring out the contents. While true, I’ve found after pouring the initial press, if you bring the plunger all the way back up, then plunge it again, you will get a surprising amount of extra liquid out. If you’re really ambitious, do it a third time. I’m usually not. Another complaint here is that the contents don’t stay hot in the SS cylinder. This is mostly true. If you pour a 10oz cup, you should pour the remaining 10oz’s within 40 minutes or so, otherwise it’s not going to be very hot. However, a simple workaround is just pour the entire presses contents into a 20 oz Yeti tumbler. That will keep it hot for many hours, giving you the luxury of writing long, detailed amazon reviews no one will read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great french press, doesn’t retain the heat as hyped
I own two bodum french press, which do a great job, reasonably priced, but it’s glass and does not retain the heat. Wirecutter gave a glowing review for this press, which touts the double walled insulation contained in the carafe. This does not keep the coffee hot for long. Very disappointed in that feature of the press.

5.0 out of 5 stars Distrust anyone who says this is difficult to clean.
I suspect the people who are having difficulty cleaning this product are using fine ground coffee. That’s the only thing I can think of. It’s easy for me to clean, and I have difficulties washing up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can find something more affordable
Good quality product, but you can find the something else for $40 that’s still as great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works very well but…
Works very well but the matte black finish (which was part of my selling point) is already chipping away after 2 months of use and regular cleaning.
The functionality of the product I give 5 stars. I use smooth coffee with this and it takes the acidic factor away which meets my needs. However. This thing will now look like a silver and matte black pot that’s been through a house fire shortly. I don’t think an eye pleasing esthetic should be ruined so easily and be this expensive. The answer is simple though. Don’t sell it in powder coated colors. If it works really well. I’m sure people will just say screw it I’ll get the silver one because of how well it works.
This will look like crap over time though and it’s a bummer.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST French press set up ever!
We gave up on doing coffee with a French press years ago….got tired of trying to find replacement glass carafes for it. This one is good heavy stainless steel, insulated, easy to clean and finally a press that makes a decent amount of coffee! Totally worth the money spent on it.
