Below are 5 helpful insider/expert tips below:
1) Regular drip coffee machines such as coffee pots & Keurigs have ZERO pressure;
French Press has about 20 lbs of pressure;
Aeropress has about 30 lbs of pressure
Espresso machines have much higher pressure –the standard mininum pressure for espresso machines that you find in Europe & 5-star restaurants/coffee shops is about
200 to 225 lbs of pressure PSI aka as
13 to 15 BARS of pressure for PROFESSIONAL machines used in good coffee shops/restaurants
Nespresso is at the high end with 19 bars of pressure -about 275+ lbs of pressure PSI
— Jura; Saeco/Phillips;
WMF; DeLonghi; etc also all have mininum 13 to 15 bars of pressure or higher also for their professional & at-home machines
— any machine that has at least above the mininum pressure/bars that will ADVERTISE IT –if they don’t tell you how much pressure it has; then it’s because it has below that –such as the Ninjas or Bella (I had to research them heavily to find they had only about 50 lbs of pressure)
2) Independent lab tests by food/coffee companies have shown that have the mininum 200+ lbs of pressure you squeeze out & extract over 900+ essential oils & each essential oil is a different flavor & aroma;
thus you are getting at least 900+ different flavors & 900+ different aromas from professional 13 to 19 bar pressure machines (200-275+ lbs of pressure)
This is why coffee shops/restaurants that use the above hi-pressure machines smell so good
3) You know how cutting open an apple & exposing it to air/oxygen; the apple turns brown from oxidation?
Same thing happens to coffee after you grind the coffee beans & expose it to air/oxygen
–Coffee grinds go STALE after about 20 MINUTES according to lab tests by food/coffee companies –this is why old coffee doesn’t taste good & why you should always use your coffee grinds within 20 minutes of grinding your beans
–do NOT grind beans at the store unless you intend to use them within 20 minutes
If you order at a restaurant/coffee shop; make sure they grind the beans fresh or within 20 minutes earlier before you ordered &
NOT using the grinds they grinded hours earlier at 6 AM when they opened
4) Nespresso is one of the few coffee companies in the world that grinds their beans in an
OXYGEN-FREE CHAMBER (similar to vaccuum chamber) where all the oxygen is sucked out & replaced with INERT nitrogen so there is no oxidation – then it’s hermetically sealed air-tight in
RECYCLABLE aluminum capsules with a food safety liner on the inside so that the coffee grinds never touch any oxygen nor aluminum either
5) Avoid capsules that use plastic -the high heat/pressure in the machine might cause some of the plastic to leach into your coffee
Avoid paper capsules/coffee bags UNLESS they are have a plastic or aluminum lining on the inside or else oxygen will permeate thru
The standard ONE-WAY vents you see on some coffee bean bags is to because beans/grinds slowly release gas aromas as they sit on the shelf so use them before the ‘Best by date’ -you can still use them afterwards but it won’t taste so good

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh I really like the Nespresso caramel (and coconut) flavored pods, but they get pricey. Figured I’d try these as an alternative to the caramel. I’m a bit sorry I did. The price is right, but the pods themselves don’t hold nearly as much flavor as the Nespresso original pods. With the latter, I can also get two espressos out of one capsule; with this, the second espresso tastes muddy. Even with a lungo shot, there’s a muddy aftertaste. And barely a hint of caramel.
It is a bit confusing that Starbucks put a green dot on the bottom of their Nespresso original pods, though I understand it’s been this way for a while. In the early days, if you bought coffee (ground or not) at the supermarket, green packaging always meant decaf. And more recently, Nespresso only put a dot on the bottom of their decaf pods. So having a green dot there, just to supposedly differentiate Starbucks Nespresso pods from original Nespresso pods, seems nonsensical.
Still, the main thing is the taste, and I wouldn’t recommend these if you’re looking for a less expensive alternative to Nespresso capsules.

I order these all the time because I can’t beat the price and the fact that I have variety. However, this is the second time I have received capsules that are damaged to where I can’t use them. You can see the picture I uploaded, the one on the right I tried putting it through and my coffee maker just dispenses it without brewing the coffee and I just get hot water because the capsule is so damage it does not detect it. It’s a hit or miss when receiving them damaged because they are made from recycled materials, so they are very thin capsules.

Starbucks nespresso capsules are not bad compared to other brands i tried. This is not as good as the original nespresso capsules but will do the job. Please dont buy the capsules from Lavazza. I keep the starbucks in stock everytime the price is good. I still prefer to have a good cup of coffee from the Nespresso capsules.
Buy them if its on sale on Amazon or at Costco.

Until recently I did not know that Starbucks even made a caramel flavored Nespresso pod. I’ve tried caramel flavored coffees before and I’ve always been disappointed. I usually just like the House Blend but thought it might be worth trying anyway. I didn’t have the highest of expectations when I hit the lungo brew button on my machine… first was the aroma and WOW it smells SO GOOD! Off to a good start! I took a sip, still not expecting much, but was again amazed by the smooth buttery taste of caramel. Like real caramel, not that artificial nonsense. I didn’t even add anything to it. Each subsequent sip was equally delicious until it was quickly gone.
Also of note: when I ordered on Oct 11, 2023 (shipped and sold by Amazon) my estimated delivery was Nov 9th but it arrived early on Oct 23rd. It may not always work out that well but don’t let the later date discourage you if you are interested in the caramel pods. It is worth the wait in my opinion!

When I opened the pack, it was sent in an envelope and one of the capsule boxes was damaged because the envelope was not hard enough. Some capsulas could not be used because of the damage. The rest of the capsules was great and a very good way to get many capsules for a good price.

I’m no coffee or espresso aficionado. However I do periodically enjoy a caffe latte from my nespresso and aeroccino. Some of my favorite Nespresso pods are the Kona, Columbia, Cuba. I purchased the Starbucks because it was on sale; like so many who are always looking save a buck on coffee/expresso. In fact, I purchased mine Starbucks through Amazon Warehouse deal (roughly $0.36 per pod).
The set I purchased has the following (in order of my liking):
Colombia
Blonde
Pike Roast
House Blend
Caffe Verona
The challenge with any variety pack comes when there is one or more of the many flavor which is not to your liking; it skews the value of the deal. I really feel that is the case here. Caffe Verona is my least favorite; too bold for my taste buds. I can also see where some may not like one flavor or another. I’ll still drink Verona because it there and I don’t want to be wasteful. But this is just an example or how I feel regarding how the value is diluted IMHO. While you may pay more through Nespresso, you get to pick and choose to your favorites.
Again in my opinion, when the price is $0.70+ per pod, I think its a better value to pick and choose through Nespresso. But if these Starbucks variety pack could be picked up for under $0.50 then it could be a good deal even if there is a single flavor that is not to your liking.
