The media could not be loaded. I’ve never spent this much on a coffee maker in my life and never thought I would. But I’m glad I did.

I have had Cuisinart coffee makers for years and I am so tired of having to buy a new Cuisinart after a couple of years of use when it begins to malfunction. I have had to return brand new Cuisinart coffee makers as they didn’t work right and then wait for the replacement. Don’t know why I was so loyal to the brand. Maybe because they used to be much better and lasted longer.

This Moccamaster has a five year warranty – that tells you something right there (don’t forget to register yours if you purchase one – they have an online form). It’s made in the Netherlands with meticulous crafting and testing. It’s nice looking. It’s easy to clean. It’s fast. It makes hot coffee. It’s smaller so it fits on my countertop nicely without taking up a lot of room.

At first I wasn’t sure if I’d like the Rose Gold even though it is pretty, but I’ve come to like it and it’s a change from the stainless steel I’ve had for years. And, the Rose Gold was $60 less, so there’s that!

Keep in mind that though this carafe holds ten cups, this is ten 4 ounce cups, not 6-8 ounce mugs. Fine by me as I drink a few mugs in the morning and then I’m done, and I’m the only one drinking coffee.

These take paper filters – I’ve used a gold filter for many years because I don’t like tossing things in the landfill. However, two things: my gold filter does fit in there should I want to use it; and you can rinse the paper filters and reuse them a few times. Between those two things, less in the landfill.

There is research to indicate that using paper filters doesn’t affect your cholesterol levels like the gold permanent filters. So something to think about. However using the paper filters does affect taste to some degree – I have to get used to the more ‘smoother’ taste of the coffee without the oils. But on the good side, there’s not the sludgy stuff at the bottom of my cup, and no coffee grounds escaping into my cup.

Though it indicates to use fresh ground beans, I use both fresh ground and already ground. The fresh ground can taste better, but sometimes the already ground is convenient and easy and right there, and on sale.

This is so easy to use right out of the box, once you put the parts in place.

This is a no frills type coffee maker – there isn’t a timer but I never used the timer on my Cuisinart, not once, so I don’t miss that feature at all. There’s no clock but why do I need a clock? I don’t even have clocks in my house other than what is on my stove and cable box. There’s two buttons: one to select half pot or full pot, and the on/off button.

The plug is weird. You have to kind of turn it partially sideways. It was annoying at first but now I just do it and don’t think about it. Cord is short, which I like. Hate snaking cords – I like the cord hidden behind the coffee maker and this one stays behind just great.

What I also like is there isn’t those two deep dark areas that are difficult to get to and clean like in the Cuisinart and many other coffee machines. No matter how much I cleaned the machine, I always wondered how clean it really was down in there where you pour the water and where the brewing happens I guess. Here you can see where the water is, and it only goes through the stainless steel ‘arm’ and then down the little funnel and into the grounds. Cleaning is simple. There is no coffee going inside the machine anywhere.

They suggest descaling it about every 3 months using a descaler and not vinegar. I never liked to use vinegar anyway.

Out of the box I ‘brewed’ water only 3 times (they suggest 2) to be sure any factory dust or whatever was gone.

It’s quiet. No loud beeping when it’s done. No loud gargling gurgles. Though you can hear it gently brewing. And you can see the bubbles coming up in the water – it happens fast!

Mine has a warming plate. I don’t know if all of the models have it. The KBGV Select has a full pot or half pot selection. I used the half pot selection this morning when I brewed about a half pot and my coffee tasted better than when I used the full pot selection on half a pot – so it does something.

I’m happy with mine and glad I finally purchased it after doing so much reading and research on coffee machines – for months! — the Moccamaster kept coming up over and over in the Best Coffee Makers lists – and often number 1.

If you are on the fence, hop on over, if you don’t mind the price and don’t mind it’s a no-frills machine. The best part of it is the quality – I shouldn’t have to buy another coffee machine for many many years!

I have had my Moccamaster coffee maker for a little over 6 months and have used nearly daily. I loveeee it. Yes, the gorgeous and industrial aesthetics of this coffee maker had it at the top of my wishlist for a long time but the color options, sale price and excellent reviews are what made me pull the trigger. It was on sale for 250 (& I applied a 100 dollar gift card) when I purchased. Therefore, I have often asked myself if it is worth the price tag. I think it is worth the sale price of $250. I personally just can’t get behind spending more than that on a coffee maker. However, it makes excellent coffee (my fav maker I’ve ever had) and between brewing my favorite coffee and it being a splurge I have barely gotten coffee out at all this year. I prefer my home coffee above all now, so that alone has made the price tag worth it. Lastly, there is no denying it’s a statement piece and can make a kitchen. For example, I got the peppercorn yellow and it makes my kitchen/ studio apartment! Everyone compliments it & it gives an industrial, clean, masculine vibe which is what I wanted. Also, I think you could go with the pale yellow to complete a cottage core room or even to suit a retro kitchen and/ or silver/ white for clean, modern, serious bistro vibes, etc. Endless options, but I really loved getting to choose a color! Lastly, it just has a great feel, is intuitive for any OG coffee pot folks who have never liked pods, and is easy to clean!

This review is for the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select. I am a craft coffee roaster…I roast my own coffee purchased from all over the world. I want a coffee brewer that does justice to the effort that I have put into buying and roasting my green coffee beans.

If you’re like me, you’re not just wondering if the Moccamaster is a good coffee maker, but you are wondering if it is the one to buy…is it worth the money? With that in mind, I will talk about the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select and compare it to a competing coffee maker in hopes of being of assistance in making your decision; but I won’t go into great detail so I’m not repeating marketing hype.

The Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select is a really pretty machine. It looks just like it’s pictured on Amazon. I bought the teal model. So, if you like the looks in the pictures, then you’ll like the looks of the machine. It meets the SCAA gold cup standard for brewing, and so it does make very good coffee. It takes a standard #4 cone filter which are easy to find. It has a switch that can be set to either half pot or full pot (the primary reason I bought this particular model). The carafe is glass and it is thin; nothing wrong with that but don’t dink it on the counter or the sink as it will likely crack. Having said that, I think that coffee brewed in glass tastes a tiny bit better….maybe. I can tell very little difference between coffee brewed in glass and that brewed in stainless. By all accounts, the internal working of the coffee maker are excellent and should be expected to last a long time. In short, it a good coffee making machine and it brews good coffee. Now the cons: The lid over the water reservoir and the lid over the coffee filter are both loose pieces. No big deal, but when you are filling the water and putting coffee in the filter, you have to kind of juggle those loose lids and find a place to put them on the counter that is out of the way. Not a deal breaker, but be aware that this adds just a bit of “busyness” to the coffee brewing process. Also, the power switch which initiates the brew keeps the hot plate on will stay on for like 100 minutes if you do not remember to turn it off, even if the carafe is not on the machine. I would think a machine of this quality would have some kind of sensor to turn the hot plate off if the carafe is not on the machine. One final note; I purchased my Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select during Prime days for $245 instead of the normal $349…the lowest price ever offered by Technivorm. I have always wanted a Moccamaster, but without that $104 savings? I would not have purhcased it. $349 is too much for a household coffee maker. For that matter, so is $245.

I also own the OXO 9 Cup maker with a stainless thermal carafe. It is an attractive, modern looking machine. It also is a SCAA gold cup standard coffee brewer that can make a half or whole pot. The carafe is virtually indestructible and keeps a full pot of coffee very hot for a long time (1.5-2 hours). Both the water reservoir lid and filter housing lid are hinged permentantly to the machine so they are never in the way or taking up counter space. Are the internal working as highly engineered and constructed as those of the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select? Probably not. But, I’ve had my OXO for three years and it works flawlessly every time. OXO engineers their products well and I expect their machine to last a long time. The OXO does not have a hot plate so no issue like that of the Moccamaster. One neat thing it does do; it senses if the carafe is in place and if it is not in place you cannot brew. Nice safety/convenience feature, I think. Cons: none really, unless you consider a stainless carafe a con. I do not. There might be a miniscule difference in taste (one that cannot be quantified), but I cannot definitively say there is. I have been drinking my own roasts for the last three years brewed in the OXO. Every good roast has tasted good; every poor roast has tasted poor. But, that’s on me the roaster….not on the brewer. At just about $200 full price, the OXO is a bargain compared to the Moccamaster.

If you chose to buy the Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select you’ve got a very good machine. If you pay $349 for it, I have to say that you spent a lot more money for a coffee brewer than you needed it. If you really want the Moccamaster, buy it and be proud of it. You’ll like the coffee. If you want a very good coffee maker and you don’t absolutely have to own a Moccamaster, be a better steward of your money and buy the OXO for about $200 or less. You won’t be dissapointed with either brewer, but you might be disappointed with yourself for spending more than you need to for a good coffee maker.

FYI: 1)The Moccamaster 53934 KBGV Select is about 14″ tall and the OXO is about 15″…if this matters to you. 2) I use the Melitta Bamboo #4 filters on both machines because they don’t impart a papery taste to the coffee…IMO.

5.0 out of 5 stars The coffee machine that makes you ask “What do I value?”
My last coffee machine had a hundred options, made a fine pot of coffee, and lasted all of 2.5 years. And it only lasted that long with me working around its mechanical problems for the last year. I tried to fix it, but it literally was put together with “tamper proof” screws. So – designed specifically to not be repaired and thus now it is in the land fill.

This machine could not be more different. It strips the coffee making process down to the basics. Makes a great pot of coffee in a short amount of time. And comes with a best in class warranty. They even service it for a reasonable price after the warranty expires.

As far as the coffee taste goes, don’t expect magical properties. It heats water and pours it over coffee grounds. That is it. But the water gets to the ideal temperature quickly and stays at that temperature throughout the brew.

So if you highly value simplicity, reliability, and repairability and are willing to pay a little extra for these, then this is the machine for you. If you expect a $350 machine to make a pot of coffee that is 3.5 times better than a $100 dollar machine, or have 3.5 times the features, then this is not the machine for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don’t bother searching for reviews online… Buy something else
I will start by saying, I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 for two reasons. First, it’s not a terrible machine. It makes good tasting coffee. Second, a lot of the things I will talk about, like the lack of features and the high price, are things I knew before buying it.

I ordered this machine on Christmas day, because our last coffee maker simply gave out. I read a ton of reviews online from from different sources… NY Times, Vice, NY Mag, and a bunch of others. The only conclusion I can make is that for some reason the writers aren’t being honest and they are publishing VERY positive reviews for this machine. I’m not making any guesses or accusations to why they would do that.

So first here is my personal experience; the caveat again being that I knew it had no features going in, although I had no idea it would feel so cheaply made. Then afterward I will list the pros and cons.

I’ve had the machine for more than 7 months now. The best thing I can say is that it still works, and it makes a consistent brew of coffee, every single time. But within 3 months, the spring that controls the spring-loaded drip-stop functionality popped out. I only realized this a couple days later, but I was fortunate enough to find the spring, which had fallen out while I was rinsing out the coffee holder. It happened to fall into my garbage disposal in the sink, and stayed there long enough for me to find it and put it back in place. I haven’t had an issue with the spring since then because I have been more careful when rinsing it.

Now however, the ONLY feature that the machine DOES have has stopped working. That singular feature is the ability to switch between a full carafe and a half carafe. My machine no longer recognizes that switch. So however much water I put in, the machine will run until the water runs out. This means if I want a half carafe, I have to measure the water first before putting it in the machine, because if I add too much water the machine doesn’t stop at half carafe when it is switched to half carafe, and I wind up with a full pot of weak coffee.

Those are the only 2 problems I’ve had, but I think when you pay almost $400 for a coffee machine (after tax) that has no other features, those 2 problems are big problems! Maybe there was a time when these weren’t mass-produced by the company and the quality was better, I don’t know. But in current state, it’s just a way overpriced coffee machine.

PROS –
-Consistent brew of coffee every single time.
-No-pump water dispenser is GREAT, and hassle-free.

CONS – everything else…
-The quality is not good. The machine is mostly plastic
-The glass carafe is made of very thin glass, it’s small, and the shape of the spout causes it to spill VERY easily, requiring you to be extra careful when pouring.
-The 100-minute on-time after brewing is too short. You will read that this keeps the coffee fresh, etc. but having had to restart it many times, I can tell you that the coffee is just fine if left on longer. As long as the plate temperature isn’t too hot, and there’s a decent amount of coffee still in the carafe, it’s not going to taste burnt, if it stays on longer.
-The lack of features, and early failure of both parts and features is astonishing given the price of the machine, even if you are aware going in.
– The price. It’s a super-expensive coffee-only machine. For this price, understanding that it does nothing except make coffee… there’s not even a timer… you should be able to expect a couple of things. There should NEVER be pieces falling off. The only feature that it does offer should not fail in less than a year. The build materials should be much better quality than they are. That’s it. That was all I expected, knowing the price and lack of features. And somehow, it still failed to meet those minimum expectations.

I’m still using the machine, and will use it for a while, because I usually make a full carafe of coffee… I almost never need the now-broken, half-carafe feature; and also because I did, after all, pay almost $400 for the machine. So it’d be a waste to throw it out. I might reach out to support about the half/full switch that doesn’t work. But honestly I feel like that’s an extra hassle I shouldn’t have to deal with for a product of this price. So I will just keep using it as-is. But I can’t recommend ANYONE buying this machine for ANY reason, even if the price was to be cut in half.

Do yourself a favor and pass on this machine… either find another expensive machine, with more features and better build quality, or just buy a regular coffee machine for under $200, and use the other $200 on something else! Don’t let the publications where you read reviews of this machine fool you into thinking that despite it’s lack of features, and lack of build quality, that it makes such a great cup of coffee that the price is justified. There is nothing about this product that justifies the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rich, flavorful coffee
This Moccamaster replaces a series CuisineArt drip coffee makers that I’ve been using for nearly 30 years. Reliable but only adequate if making dark roasted coffees. As I got interested in lighter roasted coffees that old CusineArt just couldn’t get both flavor and reduced acidity in the same brew. I should also point out that I normally make .5-to-.6-liter batches since I am the only coffee drinker.

Right from the start the Moccamaster made a rich, clean-flavored batch of medium roast Colombian. As instructed, I set the grind several notches coarser than I used for the CusineArt. For a .6 liter batch (using the half liter setting) I found that the initial water flow didn’t wet the right side of the basket so now I pour the grounds into the basket to “lean” the grounds toward the left. The grounds eventually level themselves out. There is a reason the Moccamaster wins just about everybody’s comparison taste tests, it just makes great coffee.

I gave the Moccamaster 4 stars because I am a bit surprised that the plastic parts (covers, trim) seem cheap and flimsy. They are very thin, shiny, and seem inappropriate for such an expensive machine. I haven’t dropped any plastic pieces on the tile floor of the kitchen yet, but I don’t have a good feeling about how they will fare when I do. I get the feeling from the reviews that many people leave the covers on the shelf. I’ll probably do the same thing.

Makes excellent coffee that easily rivals the manual pour overs that I’ve been making daily for the last decade. I simply don’t have time for that anymore. Researched a ton but ultimately decided that I’d rather not fiddle with settings and presets and wanted a simple tried and true machine. Plus this is clearly one of the best looking machines to put on your counter which was another deciding factor. Most coffee brewers are large and ugly. This one has class.
Only gripe is I’ve found that I do need to stir the grounds at least once during the brew. The shower head does not fully cover the basket and this will lead to underextracted coffee and it is visibly noticeable in the brew basket after brewing a pot w/o stirring. But I’m ok with that. This issue is well documented on the internet and many people say it’s not a big deal. I’m just a coffee nerd so I care. Giving it a little stir and then walking away is still substantially less work than a manual pour over. Overall I’m happy with it

I am coming from a Bonavita which is also great. The Bonavita still works I was just able to get the Moccamster in a rare Prime Day deal.

The coffee brewed is great. I did look up videos on how to make the best cup possible, but that is just tweaking.

The plastics on the carafe feel lightweight. I am not sure they are flimsy though.

Definitely a balance of form and function.

5.0 out of 5 stars I’m not a coffee connoisseur; does the brewer make a difference?
Emphatically, yes! If you’re on the fence about spending this much on a coffee brewer, then jump off with money in hand.

We buy decent coffee, whole bean, and only grind a pot’s worth each morning in an effort to keep as much flavour as possible in the bean. We even use bottled water. All that thought goes into the coffee but not the machine we brew it in.

We’ve always bought basic brewers, until our last one, which was still only ~$80. We used it for a couple of years, but still, we were unsatisfied with the flavour and overall experience of relishing in that first, hot cup of the morning.

Not anymore! I was hesitant but decided it was worth a try. After all, Amazon accepts returns. I am so glad I did. Now, this is a bit smaller than the average brewer (10 cups), but with the quality of what’s brewed, you don’t even miss it. Every good thing that’s in a coffee bean, this brewer expertly and deliciously extracts it to give you an incredible cup of coffee.

I’m far from being a coffee expert but I do like good coffee in the morning. While this maker is expensive, it delivers on brewing a pot of hot coffee. I don’t grind beans and but try various suppliers of ground coffee. I’ve been using this now for 60 days. Have not been disappointed. I previously used the top rated Consumer Reports machine. This one consistently yields a great pot of coffee. My advice is to wait for a sale (Black Friday or mid year on Amazon).

tldr: This is the best coffee pot I’ve ever owned.

Many reviews say the parts are cheap and plastic-y, they are plastic, but they don’t feel cheap to me. Every part feels necessary, and minimal. I love how simple the functionality is, two switches, that’s it. The water wand is convenient and doesn’t leak at all. Most importantly, it makes great coffee. Perfect temp, perfect consistency and ground saturation, and the hot plate doesn’t burn it if you leave it on. If this thing holds up for a couple years, I will be super pleased and probably buy another, perhaps a new color! So happy and relieved this thing lived up to my expectations.

It seems to make a better cup of coffee than my normal $50 drip machine. I also get to thumb my nose at people who don’t, which is a big plus.

For the price, I would have liked to have seen more glass and metal than plastic.

Also, I’m assuming it’ll turn itself off if you leave it on? I have not tested it, but you need to make some space for that big, exposed heating element under the pot.

Aside from being a beautiful masterpiece of a coffee maker, it makes exceptional coffee. It’s easy to clean and the coffee stays HOT. I really like that the warmer automatically shuts off after an hour.

I’ve been drinking my coffee black for the last 20 years – I just like it that way. I’m no connoisseur, but I can tell a good cup from a bad cup. We’ve had the same coffee maker for the last 10 years. It was one of the standard ones you put on your wedding registry. It did the job fine.

Over the last 10 years, I brewed our coffee with a standard coffee maker, french press, Aeropress, and pour-over using a v60. The v60 was the one I used and loved the most up until about 4 years ago – that’s when we welcomed our firstborn into the world. I made a full pivot back to the standard coffee maker – occasionally using the v60 when I get a nice bag of coffee.

Towards the end of last year, my wife and I agreed that we’d purchase a nicer coffee maker since we’ve had our current one for so long. I started researching.. So many cool machines out there these days that will do all sorts of things like grind your beans for you, make espresso (or nespresso), and plenty of other things- but at the end of the day I wanted something that simply made good coffee. I found a few options, thought about it for a while but still didn’t have my mind made up. Fast forward to a day where my wife forwards me an instagram story about some influencer who “likes nice things” – she was talking up this very Moccamaster – I had never heard of a Moccamaster so I was intrigued. I clicked on the link, did a little more research and was really impressed. I didn’t want to get my hopes high.. but.. that first cup of coffee was the way coffee is intended to taste.

I’m convinced that I couldn’t do a pour over with my v60 that tastes as good as this coffee maker does it. I thought it might just be the bag of coffee I was using so I wanted to go through all my usual coffees before I wrote a review. I’ve brewed local craft coffees to mass produced coffees. Even the Dunkin coffee is the best Dunkin I’ve ever had!

This coffee maker truly keeps things simple and good. You pay a little more for it, but it’s something you’ll use every day. This is probably my favorite purchase I’ve ever made from Amazon. Well done, Moccamaster team – thank you!

First it’s beautiful, brews coffee great. You can brew half a pot, simple to use. High end but I understand why. The color is a ray of sunshine in the morning. Sunshine and great coffee starts a great day. Worth the money by far.

I spent many days researching the best coffee maker to fit my needs and the Buy it For Life Subreddit had nothing but awesome things to say about this machine so I ended up purchasing it during the Black Friday Sale.

I used to be someone who would justify buying coffee out all the time and since the day I got it, I haven’t had coffee out one single time because I like the coffee I make at home MUCH better. The Moccamaster is super easy to use, makes my coffee quickly, and the coffee is good EVERY SINGLE TIME.

The one drawback is how many pieces need to be washed everyday, but I don’t have a dishwasher. It really isn’t too bad though and takes me around 3 minutes to get it all washed.

I have been ranting and raving to everybody who will listen about how much I love this thing! I will definitely be purchasing more items to add to my coffee routine from this company.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally bought after 20 years — great coffee, but very fussy machine
I’ve been looking at this manufacturer for 20 years — ever since Cooks Illustrated rated it the best. I finally bought one. The bottom line is it makes very good coffee, but I don’t love the machine yet. I expected fussy, but after using its closest competitor (Bonavita) for years — which is exceedingly easy to use and also makes very good coffee — this seems a little much. There is a loose, separate cover for both the water and the grounds that have to be removed and placed somewhere (on my crowded counter) while you add water and grounds. The transfer arm that transports the water to the grounds is removable, and while it seems fairly secure, since it’s press-fitted to the reservoir’s silicone seal, I’m concerned that over time it will loosen and lose its seal. The brew basket has to fit into pegs, and has a spring-loaded release trap that I expect to wear out eventually. It’s also complicated to clean, due to its design. The glass carafe has this bizarre funnel lid that goes to the bottom of the carafe, and is awkward to maneuver when filling it with water, so I just remove it. The warming plate surface material (some kind of plastic) has a fair amount of friction, and since one has to push up another spring-loaded device when slipping the pot under the basket, it makes it more difficult to get the pot in. It tends to bind, and you have to wiggle the pot a little to get it under. They should improve the plastic – make it more slick — or just switch to stainless steel, which would have more slip. Washing all these individual parts will be a chore, and I think they have to be hand-washed.

Yes, I’m being fussier than the coffee maker itself, but all these things add up in the morning when you have 5 minutes to get out the door to work. I’ve only been using it for four days, so I’m sure I’ll get more used to it, and maybe my morning grumpiness may improve.

The only true flaw I’ve found so far is the carafe spout lip. It has a low velocity pour speed, or it will break and dribble down the pot. The Bonavita can be poured nearly as fast as one wishes, as the lip is very well designed. For coffee it’s not that big of a deal, as one usually pours it fairly slow, but I always get water on the counter when filling the reservoir with the carafe, and it’s irritating. I’m going to use it a while, and if it continues to be a problem, I’m going to assume it’s a bad carafe — and not design — and ask for a replacement.

OK — that’s the bad, and yes I was very nit-picky, but this is a $350 coffee maker that has been touted as the finest home brew for decades — and I think it deserves a picky review.

On the good side, it’s a beautiful design, over-all. Very cool look. Besides the issues, above, it does seem sturdy and well made. The plastic cover on the reservoir seems a little cheap, but I’m being really picky now. Overall it seems well made. The most important thing is the coffee taste, of course, and it does make damn good coffee. With the same beans, comparatively, it is not quite as extracted as the Bonavita, but the coffee seems more nuanced. I’ll try it with other beans — maybe go head to head with the Bonavita– and get back to you. I do suspect that the coffee will be better in the Technovorm. My wife — who gets up an hour and a half after me for work — says it does a great job at keeping the coffee warm. I’m giving it 4 stars because of my observed design issues — and yes, because my expectations have been so high for so many years. Flavor is 5 stars. Stay tuned….

I bought an Amazon warehouse Moccamaster and was a little concerned it wouldn’t measure up. I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging was carefully packed but best of all the coffee was so flavorful. It really is a beautiful machine and if coffee is your thing it is worth the investment.

I bought this after my other coffee maker broke (the Bonavita 8-Cup Coffee Maker) and I could immediately tell the improvement in the coffee. Much better taste, along with it being super easy to clean. Love this

3.0 out of 5 stars Manufacturing Defect — Otherwise Great Coffee Maker
I received the “Stone Grey” Moccamaster 53949 KBGV model yesterday (7/24/2024) from Amazon, with Amazon sale and delivery. Yes, it is easy to use and brews delicious hot coffee. The kudos given by other reviews are merited.

But this one has a manufacturing defect. Very prominent and immediately noticeable. It is a roughly 1/4th inch round’ish gouge deep into the hot plate warmer which digs deeply into the metal, completely removing the black enamel that otherwise covers the warmer in that spot, leaving bare metal visible.

Amazon’s shipping box was fine with no outward sign of damage or rough handling, the manufacturer’s product box was similarly fine with no signs of problems nor mishandling, and the product inside was very well packaged and was internally supported very well to prevent damage. So clearly it is a defect that occurred prior to packaging.

Thankfully it does not affect usage, brewing, or warming results — The glass carafe does not rest on the gouge. So this defect is effectively “cosmetic” in nature. Just wish it wasn’t there, because I will see it every time.

Since this is proudly listed as “hand built”, it is very disappointing that whomever assembled this particular coffee maker, plus whomever performed final inspection prior to packaging, actually let this be approved for sale.

So buyer beware. Since the manufacturer was willing to ship/sell this one, there is thus a potential for other buyers to get one that is also damaged or defective in some way.

This particular high-end coffee maker is otherwise fine. Which is why I removed just one star for Poor Quality Assurance. Overly harsh? Well, shame on whomever for letting it get to a customer.

EDIT: I see now (7/25/2024) a review by another customer here who shows a photo with an identical gouge on the hot plate warmer. This indicates that mine is not a one-time manufacturing error. So other people buying these expensive coffee makers can potentially receive one that also has the same manufacturing defect. Penalized another Star, down from 4 to 3.

I’ve owned a Technivorm Moccamaster 10 cup Coffee Maker for over 15 years. It was the KB brewer. It’s been the best coffeemaker that I’ve ever bought. And I’ve bought many other coffee maker brands since 1982. None of them compared. I realized it was time to replace it. It was still brewing my coffee ( My favorite Peet’s Major Dickinson brand), but it was looking dated. I decided during Amazon Prime Day to see if I could replace it with a newer version. Yay, Amazon had the KBGV on sale. I saved a $100.00 on prime day sale. I’m very happy with it. It has some features that I my older coffee maker didn’t have. I purchased the Polished Silver color. I highly recommend Technivorm Moccamaster for coffee aficionados.

Wow, that’s a lot of money for a coffee pot. Is it worth it? For me, yes. For anyone else? That’s up to them. It makes a beautiful cup of coffee. It is definitely smoother and more flavorful than my old worn out pot. If you loves your coffee, and can afford the price point, then you will not be disappointed.
